The “lambecas” of our delight

These are the ice creams whose fame has surpassed the turquoise sea and golden sand and have won fans for decades.

Don't look for an explanation, look for the end of the line and wait your turn. These are the ice creams whose fame has surpassed the turquoise sea and golden sand and have won fans for decades.
They are called “lambecas” and have become an undeniable icon of the island of Porto Santo, appreciated by people of all ages and combining incomparable flavours, such as pineapple and peach, biscuit and coffee and orange and banana.
Since the middle of the last century, the flavours have been delighting generations, thousands a day during the summer months. The stand, located on the way to the church, ends up attracting the attention of even those who do not want to stop, try, taste. The queues wind through the nearby terraces and you wait for countless minutes to receive the handmade cookie cone that contains the cream.
Going to Porto Santo without going through the “lambecas” is like going to Belém without tasting pastries. Dare to try the randomly mixed flavours that no one complains about, eaten against the clock before it melts with the heat of the island.
